January 30, 2017no responsesPOSable

In 2015 Westpac announced that more than half (53%) of all transaction are cashless, and stated that with the growing increase of banks and users moving to smartphone payment, many Australian are predicting that Australia will be cash free by 2022. As virtually everyone now walks around with a smartphone that does everything from showing you the time, surfing the web, playing movies, ordering food and even finding a date, more and more people are wondering why they can’t just pay with it also. In response to this push for cashless transactions many banks have come up with their own tap and pay options for smartphones, and in more recent times ANZ and now Westpac have also joined hands with third party payment options such as Apple Pay for ANZ, and Android Pay for both banks. With more ways to pay now than ever before, it is looking more and more likely that Australia will become a cashless nation.
